Dan is from Pittsburgh, PA. He is a huge soccer fan, men's and women's. He has a little boxer/beagle mix with his long-time partner, who's completing her graduate education at University of Michigan. He is a lapsed Quaker, born and raised. In another universe, he is a journalist. In a universe beyond that, he is a summer camp director. In the one beyond that, a writer and poet. The title of his doctoral thesis is "Sexual minority stress, fatalism, and suicidality" (chair: Dr. Stephanie Davis; expected defense April 2021). It explores cognitive factors linking depression with suicidality. The methodology is a statistical analysis of a nationally representative dataset of young adults (Add Health Wave IV) to determine whether relationships between variables differ across heterosexual and non-heterosexual participants.
