CAPS Hours

CAPS uses a same-day screening appointment system (rather than scheduled appointments) for your initial visit.  CAPS is closed on University Holidays (September 2, November 28, 29, 30, December 24, 25, 31, and January 1).

Same-day screening hours are listed below:

Same-Day Non-Crisis Screening Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 10 am – 4:30 pm
  • Friday: 10 am – 3:30 pm

Students who are in a crisis or extreme distress are usually given first priority.

Crisis Screening Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 6 pm
  • Friday: 8 am - 5 pm

Business Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 6 pm
  • Friday: 8 am - 5 pm

To initiate services, please come to CAPS on the third floor of Olin Health Center (463 E Circle Drive) and check-in at the desk.  You will be asked to complete some paperwork and a brief survey. After the paperwork is completed, the typical wait for a counselor is about 15-60 minutes, depending on the number of students waiting. The total time to expect for your initial visit, including paperwork and waiting time, is approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.

After completing your paperwork, you will have a face-to-face interview with a counselor for about 30 minutes. During this interview, the counselor will gather pertinent information to be reviewed by a team of clinicians to determine whether CAPS or another resource is the most appropriate option for you.

As resources permit, additional services (such as individual or group counseling) and/or referrals to outside resources may be provided. Most continuing counseling services are available on an appointment basis.
