Getting Started at CAPS

To start services, please come to CAPS on the third floor of Olin Health Center (463 E. Circle Drive) and check in at the desk. CAPS uses a same-day screening appointment system (rather than scheduled appointments) for your initial visit. You will complete some paperwork and a brief survey. The typical wait for a counselor is about 15-60 minutes, depending on the number of students waiting. The total time to expect for your first visit, including paperwork and waiting time, is approximately 90 minutes to two hours.

You will have a face-to-face interview with a counselor for about 30 minutes, where they will gather pertinent information to be reviewed by a team of clinicians to determine whether CAPS or another resource is the most appropriate option for you.

As resources permit, additional services (like individual or group counseling) or referrals to outside resources may be provided. Most continuing counseling services are available on an appointment basis.

During COVID-19, most services are available virtually. While offices are closed, get started by scheduling an initial consultation.
