CAPS Services During COVID-19

Due to COVID-19, CAPS is providing services remotely. 

Students can continue to take advantage of virtual services like group counseling, CAPS Connect and more. See all of our services at Self-guided resources are available on our Resources page. 

Keep in mind:

  • Crisis services are available 24/7. Students can call (517) 355-8270 and press “1” at the prompt to speak with a crisis counselor. 

  • CAPS offices on campus remain closed for routine appointments and drop-in services to promote safety for students and staff. Counseling and psychiatric staff are working remotely to provide telemental health services to students. Alternative options are available for students who can’t engage in telemental health services for privacy or technological reasons. Please let CAPS know if you have this need.

    • Accessing CAPS: If you don’t have a scheduled telemental health appointment, or aren’t already established with CAPS, please complete a CAPS Phone Request. Then, we’ll schedule a telemental health consultation to discuss your needs and connect you with available resources.

    • Established psychiatry patients can contact their provider through the MyMSUHealth patient portal. Patients concerned about potential cost should mention this to their provider.

    • Patients who need a prescription refill before their next appointment can use the MyMSUHealth patient portal to make the request.
Students residing outside of Michigan: In most circumstances, CAPS can offer only limited services (e.g., screening, consultation, referral coordination, transfer of care) because provider licenses only allow us to practice within Michigan.
