Ciera's hometown is Milwaukee, WI. She began working at MSU CAPS in 2022 as a Doctoral Intern, then as a Post-Doctoral Fellow, and now a Staff Psychologist. Ciera is trained as a generalist and has developed a niche for the professional interests listed below. She uses a Multicultural Feminist approach as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help students reach their therapy goals. She is passionate about helping college students understand their mental health concerns and find their life purpose. Therapy sessions with Ciera may focus on exploring your values, passions, and aspirations, uncovering pathways to purposeful living, and nurturing self-worth. She emphasizes the importance of self-care and aims to equip you with effective coping mechanisms and solutions-focused strategies to navigate life’s challenges whether that be adjusting to college, an upcoming graduation, or navigating difficult family, friend, or romantic relationships. Ciera's approach is rooted in empathy, cultural competence, and a collaborative therapeutic relationship. In her leisure time, Ciera enjoys reading, meditation, yoga, working out, being in nature, traveling, and viewing/creating art.
