Kathleen is originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and now considers Michigan her home. Kathleen is trained as a generalist with an emphasis in complex trauma assessment and intervention. Practicing from an intersectional feminist and person-centered perspective, integrating cognitive-behavioral therapies with interpersonal processing and emotion-focused approaches, Kathleen aims to provide students with a safe processing space to facilitate personal growth and development of self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Outside of CAPS, Kathleen enjoys spending time with family, friends, and pets, building LGBTQ+ community, watching shows/movies, spending time in nature, swimming and kayaking, dancing and singing, attending local events, and exploring dining/stores in local towns. In addition, Kathleen is an elementary level Spanish speaker and social justice researcher, with particular focus on the topics of sexual trauma and reproductive justice. Kathleen is a member of the American Psychological Association and participant in Divisions 17, the Society for Counseling Psychology and 35, the Society for the Psychology of Women.
