Maria was born in the city of New York and grew up in York, Pennsylvania. She's currently working hard toward her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Texas Tech University and just received the 2022 Crossing Latinidades Mellon Humanities Fellowship. She's fluent in both English and Spanish and loves spending her free time cooking, drawing, thrift shopping, and hanging out with her furry friends - a cat and a dog.
